The police arrested 4 people including the recovery of the looted autorickshaw and the recovery of 2 switch gear knives used in the murder in the sensational murder of autorickshaw driver Nayan in Keraniganj, Dhaka. They were arrested on Monday (17 July) from West Kholamora tin mosque area of Keraniganj.
The arrested are Sajib (24), Robin (23), Riaz (22), and Monir (22). Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime, Ops and Traffic-South) Aminul Islam informed this information through a press conference on Monday (17 July) night.
In a press conference, Additional Superintendent of Police Aminul Islam said that Keraniganj Model Police Station police received information through 999 at around 4:00 last night (July 8) that a dead body was lying on the paved road in front of Ripon Hajir Market in Zianagar under Keraniganj Model Police Station. On receiving such news, Additional Superintendent of Police Keraniganj Circle and Keraniganj Model Police Station along with a police team along with a team of police rushed to the spot and inspected the spot and brought the body to Keraniganj Police Station.
Later, after receiving information, the deceased’s brother Kalu Matbar (40) came to the police station and identified the dead body. Later, the body was exhumed and sent for autopsy to Sir Salimullah Medical College (Medford Hospital) in Dhaka to determine the actual cause of death.
According to the police, in the incident of this sensational and brutal murder, on July 8, Kalu Matbar (40), the victim’s brother, Do a filed case No. 20, dated (July 8) and Section-394/302/34 of the Penal Code against the unknown accused in the Keraniganj Model Police Station.
In this incident, immediately under the direction of Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Asaduzzaman PPM-Bar under the overall supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime, Ops and Traffic-South) Aminul Islam and under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police of Keraniganj Circle Shahabuddin Kabir BPM, the investigating officer of the case Police Inspector. A keen investigation team of Keraniganj Model Police Station, including Khaledur Rahman and Alak Kumar Desa, started a comprehensive investigation after the incident to unravel the main mystery of the murder.
The police also said that the investigation team collected and analyzed various signs and surrounding information. CCTV footage of the incident site and surrounding area was collected and extensively reviewed. At one stage of reviewing the CCTV footage, it was found that there were 3 more unidentified people in Nayan’s autorickshaw.
Initially, they were suspected of being members of an auto theft gang. However PC/PR review of the deceased shows that he has two drug cases under his name. Moreover, after seeing numerous stab wounds on the body of the deceased, it is believed that the murder may have taken place in a drug-related incident as well as auto robbery as the reason for the murder.
Later, the collection of information about various people related to Nayan was started through monitoring the movements of various people related to drugs in the area and PC/PR review. At one stage of the investigation, the police were able to identify the unknown accused involved in this sensational murder. When Nayan’s very close friend Robin is brought to the police station for questioning, shocking information comes out and the real mystery of the murder is revealed.
In continuation of this, under the direct supervision of Keraniganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shahabuddin Kabir BPM and with the full cooperation of Keraniganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mamunur Rashid PPM, a raiding team led by Alak Kumar Dey conducted an operation through the best use of information technology and arrested 4 people.
Later, during the interrogation of the arrested accused, they said that on the day of the incident, Nayan invited his friends to the ground adjacent to the four-story mosque near the site of the incident to give free Yaba tablets. At that time, Nayan and his friends arrived at the scene and started calculating the money due from his previous drug sales on the eve of the chat. At that time, Nayan’s friends present at the scene could not accept the matter and Nayan told them that he will not feed anyone unless they pay money. Then Sajib gets excited and hits Nayan’s back with a sharp switch gear knife, causing Nayan to run for his life.
Later, to ensure death, Robin, Monir and Riaz, along with 3 others randomly started hitting Nayan’s chest, neck and different parts of the body with switch gear while standing. Nayan died on the spot due to profuse bleeding from the body at one stage of the sharp weapon injury.
According to the police, efforts are being made to arrest the other 3 fugitive accused involved in this brutal murder and the investigation of the case is continuing.
